clickTag

A variable that holds a banner’s destination address and that the ad server sets so it can count clicks.

In detail

In an HTML5 banner, the link is not hardcoded: the banner reads the clickTag variable and uses it when someone clicks. That way the ad platform decides where the click goes and can count each click before redirecting.

Many platforms replace the value of clickTag when serving the ad; the address you leave in the file is only for testing. Some use their own library or a different name: check your platform’s guide.

Example
var clickTag = "https://tu-sitio.com";  ·  window.open(window.clickTag, "_blank")
