Sprite
A single image that combines several small images; it is displayed in parts with CSS.
In detail
A sprite packs, for example, 12 frames of an animation or several icons into one file. The banner shows each part by moving or cropping the image with CSS (background-position).
It is used to reduce the number of files in the package and to create frame-by-frame animations. Its limit is the same as any image: it weighs the total of all its frames together.
